I am pleased to say two of the letters I sent out have been answered.

While no one had any answers for me, I did receive some advice and much encouragement.

I happen to have been touched by the personal tone of Libby Davies letter. I’ve been learning more about her over recent weeks, and I am increasingly impressed with her compassionate leadership.

Thanks, Hazel for your very thoughtful email. I too, felt very
distressed about the new born baby left on the door step. Not only for
the baby, but for the mother, and I kept thinking, if they find her,
please let them hlep her, not prosecute her. It is surprising that there
are no policies or progrmas such as you mention in Europe. I think it is
an area of provincial service, in regards to family welfare policies.
So, I think it would be better if you asked your MLA (Lorne Mayencourt)
what provincial policies there are on this. Thank you for writing, and I
sure appreciate your supportive comments regarding the missing women.

Sincerey,

Libby

I will certainly contact Mr. Mayencourt as I have time.
Thank you for the good advice and wishes.

I was also impressed with Stockwell Day’s response and action of forwarding the letter on to Rob Nicholson, Minister
of Justice for review.

Dear Ms. Main;

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch with your comments about
Safe Surrender Laws.

This issue is a very sensitive and complex one that requires careful
consideration. There are many jurisdictions, including provincial, that
would be involved in legislating this practice. I encourage you to
continue working with your Member of Parliament as well as provincial
departments with responsibilities for families and social services .

I have also taken the liberty of forwarding a copy of your
correspondence to my colleague, the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister
of Justice, for his review and consideration.

Thank you again for taking the time to express your thoughts on this
important matter.

Yours sincerely,

Stockwell Day, P.C., M.P.

Thank You Mr. Day for taking the step of forwarding my letter on to the Honourable Rob Nicholson, Minister of Justice, for his review and consideration. This is a complex issue and I hear two heads are better than one, etc.

I will update this page as things progress.

Wow! I just love Libby. S I was reading it, I could hear her voice. I have worked with Libby on a number of different issues in the past and I have really enjoyed and learnt from the experience.

Good one for Stockwell Day. This would fit under the party line sfor the Conservatives.

Yeah, to polar oppisite parties agreeing on the samething! Wow!

Thank you for visiting Crafty. Libby just keeps impressing me, she wears her big heart on her sleeve, and her words match her actions. I think she is an excellent example of what Canadian politics needs more of.
